(Orlando, FL) Congressman Ric Keller (R-FL) today joined the law firm of Hill, Rugh, Keller & Main as a partner in the Orlando office. Congressman Keller will practice in the area of governmental consulting as well as complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. Keller, 44, represented the Greater Orlando area in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 2001 to January 2009. Hill, Rugh, Keller & Main, a civil litigation law firm with offices in Orlando and Tampa, specializes in complex commercial, insurance & intellectual property litigation. "As a talented litigator and former member of the Intellectual Property and Commercial Law subcommittees, Ric brings a unique level of expertise to our intellectual property and commercial litigation practice," said Chris Hill, managing partner of the firm's Orlando office. "Ric will also provide strategic governmental advice to our law firm's clients and other businesses in the 1-4 corridor."

During his eight year congressional tenure, Keller served on the Judiciary and Education Committees. On the Judiciary Committee, Keller passed antipiracy legislation to crack down on online theft of movies and music, conducted anti-trust hearings on credit card interchange fees, and pushed legislation through the House banning obesity-related lawsuits against the food industry. He was also the lead Republican supporter of the COPS program.
On the Education and Labor Committee, Keller served as Chairman of the Higher Education subcommittee where he focused on increasing Pell Grants and student loan limits to help students from low income families attend college. He also conducted hearings on physical fitness and nutrition issues, and co-sponsored legislation to bring P.E. back into the public schools.
Congressman Keller received his bachelor's degree in Speech Communications from East Tennessee State University, where he graduated first in his class. He received his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School.
